Our name comes from the hawthorn tree, which symbolizes the ability to express yourself in a unique and outstanding way while also representing strength, foundation, and growth. Our name and our work are inspired by the synergy between the hawthorn tree’s symbolic meaning and the growth that teens experience during the college search and application process as they discover their own unique path and identity. College admissions is constantly changing and evolving. With our collaborative and supportive advising model, we share our diverse experience and knowledge to best help our individual students. We participate in ongoing professional development, attend webinars and conferences and visit campuses throughout the country each year to share the most current knowledge and perspectives. We bring compassion, humor, and common sense to all aspects of our business.

The high school years represent a time for independence, self awareness and exploration. The college process can be stressful; we believe in a holistic approach, guiding students through self reflection as they begin to recognize their strengths and unique identity. We help students break down the steps in the process so they are manageable and organized, while identifying colleges that align with their interests, goals, and values. Each student is more than a GPA or test score.

All productive relationships are built on trust of which authenticity is a key component. As professionals, we abide by the ethical guidelines as active members of the Higher Education Consultants Association(HECA) and the Western Association of College Admissions Counseling(WACAC).,e use the HECA's Standards and Ethics Statement and WACAC NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission Counseling to guide our work. We strive to be honest and transparent in all we do; seeking authenticity in our work with every student, as we support the discovery of their genuine voice in essays and applications.
